Who would have thought that Fred out of all people would be the hero who saved the day?
We scheduled our Sarang potluck for Saturday evening at Theresa Kim's place. Thirty minutes before the actual get-together, I got a call from Theresa who says that there is a slight problem. She had locked herself out and Priscilla was out of town on some retreat. What a predicament. Thinking that I could somehow pick the lock, I ran to her place and unsuccessfully tried to break in. Soon enough, it was potluck time and there was no way of getting in to her apartment. So a bunch of us Sarangers were just chilling in the hallway with pots and dishes of food.
All hope would have been lost except that we graciously invited ourselves over to Fred's place. Now Fred is technically a member of Sarang even though no one really knows him. Last year, this guy pretty much invited himself over to our potluck, and everyone was wondering who this "interesting" fellow was. But this year, Fred decided to skip out on our meeting for some strange reason. But when we had nowhere else to turn, we looked to Fred to help us out. (Do you see the irony of the whole situation? Fred invited himself over last year and we invited ourselves this year!) Anyway, thanks to Fred's hospitality, the potluck was saved and we all enjoyed delicious food and good company. It was probably a little uncomfortable for him, but it was really a nice gesture on his part.
Fred, I thank you for saving the day. Now take me to Sushi House.
